Returns & Refund Policy

Every artwork is created and prepared with exceptional care. Because fine art is personal and often one-of-a-kind, we encourage collectors to review all details carefully before purchasing.

Please review the policy below regarding returns, exchanges, and refunds.

Original Artwork – Final Sale

All original artworks are final sale.
Due to the unique and one-of-a-kind nature of original pieces, returns or exchanges are not accepted unless the artwork arrives damaged.
We are happy to answer any questions, provide additional images, or offer sizing guidance prior to purchase.

Giclée Prints (Unframed)

Giclée prints are made to order and are considered custom fine art reproductions.

For this reason:

  • Prints are non-refundable
  • Prints are non-returnable
  • Exchanges are not accepted

Exceptions apply only in cases of damage during shipping.

Damaged Items

If your artwork arrives damaged:

  1. Photograph the exterior packaging immediately.
  2. Photograph the artwork and any visible damage.
  3. Retain all original packaging materials.
  4. Contact us within 48 hours of delivery.

Failure to report damage within 48 hours may void eligibility for insurance claims.

All shipments are insured. Once documentation is received, we will:

  • File a carrier claim
  • Arrange for replacement (if available) or refund

Refunds for damaged items are issued after claim verification.

International Orders

International orders are final sale.

Lucien Downes Art is not responsible for:

  • Customs delays
  • VAT, duties, or import taxes
  • Refused shipments due to unpaid customs fees

If an international order is refused and returned:

  • Original shipping costs are non-refundable
  • Return shipping and customs charges will be deducted from any eligible refund

Incorrect Shipping Address

Orders shipped to an incorrectly entered address by the buyer are not eligible for refund.
If a package is returned due to address error:

  • Additional shipping fees will apply for re-shipment.

Order Cancellations

Orders may be canceled within 24 hours of purchase, provided the artwork has not yet been shipped or entered production.
Once shipped, orders cannot be canceled.
Custom or commissioned works cannot be canceled once production begins.

Refund Processing

If a refund is approved:

  • Refunds are issued to the original payment method
  • Processing time is typically 5–10 business days
  • Shipping fees are non-refundable unless the return is due to verified damage

Exchanges

Exchanges are not offered for:

  • Change of mind
  • Size preference
  • Color variation due to monitor differences

We recommend reviewing product descriptions and dimensions carefully before purchasing.

Color & Display Variations

Please note that colors may vary slightly depending on your monitor or device settings. Such variations do not qualify as defects.
